“All of our sorrow is real, but the atoms of which we are made are indifferent.”

This quote is widely attributed (online) to Georges Santayana, which doesn’t necessarily mean he actually said it (note recent post on the “Wrongly Attributed Statement”). But I like it anyway, because it does neatly some sum! sum! (never post before you’ve finished your first cup of coffee) up the great mystery of “self.”
