mucronate? “Ending abruptly in a sharp point” wouldn’t have been my first shot out of the barrel. But then, who knew that a “mucro” is, in fact, “a short sharp point at the end of a part or organ”? (Well, obviously, someone knew. In fact, the Oxford Dictionaries, where “mucronate” is the WOTD.)
